if you think you are
by walter d. wintle
if you think you are beaten, you are
if you think you dare not, you don't
if you think to win but you think you can't
it's almost certain you won't
if you think you'll lose, you've lost
for out of the world we find
success begins with a person's will
it's all in the state of mind
if you think you're outclassed, you are
you've got to think height to rise
you've got to be sure of yourself
before you can ever win a prize
life's battles don't always go
to the stronger or faster man
but sooner or later the man who wins
is the man who thinks he can!
yesterday kissed my happiness,
today has come to naught,
i received a sincere love
always the total can not be sustained.
women to men there is a way to be happy;
but unfortunately the way to a man trapped in there more than three thousand kinds!
only among the only true love.
"what is love?"
"..." no one can answer.
the same leaves over and over again!
they fall from giving shade above
to make one texture of faded brown
and fit the earth like a leather glove.
before the leaves can mount again
to fill the trees with another shade,
they must go down past things coming up.
they must go down into the dark decayed.
they must be pierced by flowers and put
beneath the feet of dancing flowers.
however it is in some other world
i know that this is the way in ours.
